Q&A

Frequently Asked Questions — to help you get the information you need.

How does the humidity sensor work?

The built-in humidity sensor continuously monitors moisture levels. When humidity exceeds 50% RH, the fan automatically turns ON to remove excess moisture. When humidity drops below the set level, the fan turns OFF automatically after a short delay.

Can I use the humidity sensor and the light separately?

Yes. For models with both a light and humidity sensor, the fan and light can be wired to separate wall switches. This allows you to use the light independently while the humidity sensor continues to control the fan automatically.

The fan keeps running even after the air feels dry. What should I do?

This may happen if residual humidity remains in the room or if the sensor’s tolerance range (±10% RH) keeps it active slightly longer. Allow a few minutes for the fan to shut off automatically or clean the sensor area to ensure accurate detection.

Is the humidity sensor always active when the fan is powered?

Yes. When the wall switch is ON, the humidity sensor stays active even if the fan is off. It will automatically turn the fan ON when high humidity is detected.

Can the Akicon Humidity Sensor and Light Switch be used with other brands of exhaust fans?

Yes, in most cases it can. The Akicon Humidity Sensor and Light Switch is compatible with most standard exhaust fans that use 120V AC power and have separate fan and light wiring.

However, we recommend checking the wiring diagram of your fan before installation.

If your exhaust fan includes built-in electronic controls, timers, or smart functions, it may not be fully compatible.

For best performance, we suggest pairing the switch with Akicon exhaust fans, which are fully tested and optimized for humidity-sensing operation.
