Bath & Exhaust Ventilation Fan FAQs

What is a sone, and how is it measured?

A sone is a measurement of sound in terms of comfortable hearing level for an average listener. The lower the sone value, the more comfortable the listening environment. Sones are not decibels or volume, but rather how sound is "sensed".

1 Sone =  The refrigerator running in your kitchen.

2 Sones = The noise level in an office workplace.

3 Sones = The level one would have in a face to face conversation.

4 Sones = The level that most listen to the TV in their home.

5 Sones = Noise level of a busy restaurant at dinner time.

6 Sones = Sporting event in an arena or stadium.

How do I properly size an exhaust fan for my bathroom?

1. Know the Standard: CFM per Square Foot

CFM = Cubic Feet per Minute, the measure of airflow.

The general rule:

1 CFM per square foot of bathroom area

For example, a 60 sq ft bathroom should have a minimum 60 CFM fan.

2. Measure Your Bathroom

Multiply the length × width to get square footage:

Example: 8 ft × 6 ft = 48 sq ft → minimum 48 CFM fan

3. Adjust for Ceiling Height (Optional, for high ceilings)

If your bathroom has ceilings higher than 8 feet:

Use this formula:

(L × W × H) × 0.13 = Minimum CFM

Where:
= Length (feet)

= Width (feet)

= Ceiling height (feet)

4. Add Extra CFM for Features

You may want to add 50–100 CFM if your bathroom includes:

jetted tub

steam shower

used at the same time

5. Use Multiple Fans for Large Bathrooms

For bathrooms over 100 square feet, install:
toilet, shower, tub, or enclosure, or

150–200+ CFM for full-room ventilation

Example Calculation:

Bathroom size: 10 ft × 9 ft × 8 ft

→ Volume = 720 cu ft

→ 720 × 0.13 = 93.6 CFM

→ Round up → 100 CFM fan recommended

Pro Tip:

Choose a fan that's slightly more powerful than needed, especially if ductwork is long or has bends—this helps maintain effective airflow.

What does CFM mean?

CFM stands for Cubic Feet per Minute — it’s a measurement of airflow, indicating how much air a fan can move in one minute.
In Simple Terms:

CFM tells you how powerful a ventilation fan is.
more air, faster.
less air, slower.

Can this exhaust fan be used in the kitchen or bathroom?

Yes. Our exhaust fans are suitable for bathrooms, kitchens, and laundry rooms. They are moisture-resistant and heat-tolerant. Please select the appropriate CFM for your room size.

Where should the exhaust fan be located?

Exhaust fans should be located in or near the shower or tub, and in an enclosed water closet. Keep exhaust points opposite the supply air source to ensure that the fresh air is drawn through the room. Bathroom doors should not be sealed too tightly at the bottom in order to allow "makeup air" to enter the room when the door is closed.

Is the exhaust fan difficult to install? Do I need a professional?

Installation is straightforward and can be completed by most users. The package includes a step-by-step manual and mounting hardware. However, we recommend hiring a licensed electrician if you’re unfamiliar with wiring.

Does it support humidity sensing or auto on/off?

Some models feature built-in humidity sensors that automatically turn on the fan when moisture levels rise. Please check the model specifications for details.

Range Hood FAQs

What does a range hood do?

A range hood helps ventilate your kitchen by removing smoke, grease, odors, and heat generated during cooking. It improves air quality and helps keep your kitchen cleaner.

What CFM range hood do I need?

CFM (Cubic Feet per Minute) measures airflow power.
100 CFM per linear foot of cooktop
400–900+ CFM recommended
Higher CFM if possible for better performance

How loud is the range hood?

Range hood noise is measured in sones.

1–2 sones = very quiet

3–5 sones = moderate

6+ sones = loud

Look for "Ultra Quiet" or models under 3 sones for a peaceful kitchen.

Can I install the range hood myself?

Yes, if you’re comfortable with basic tools and electrical work. However, professional installation is recommended for ducted systems or built-in inserts.

What type of lighting is included?

Most modern range hoods come with LED lights for energy-efficient, bright illumination over your cooktop. Some models offer adjustable brightness or 3CCT color temperature options.

What materials are range hoods made of?

Most range hoods are made of stainless steel for durability and easy cleaning. Some also include tempered glass, black matte finishes, or color customization.
