Q&A
Frequently Asked Questions — to help you get the information you need.
What does the Akicon Light Dimmer & Fan Switch do?
This switch allows you to control both the light and the exhaust fan separately from one wall panel. The light side includes a dimmer function, and the fan side provides ON/OFF control.
Can I use this switch with any exhaust fan?
Yes, it works with most standard 120V exhaust fans, including Akicon and other brands. However, fans with built-in timers, humidity sensors, or smart controls may not be compatible with the ON/OFF switch side.
Can I install the switch myself?
Yes. It can be installed like a standard wall switch by following the wiring diagram in the manual. For safety, turn off power at the breaker before installation. If you’re not familiar with wiring, please hire a licensed electrician.
The light flickers when dimmed. What should I do?
This usually happens when using non-dimmable bulbs or when the brightness is set too low. Replace the bulb with a dimmable type or increase the dimming level slightly.
Can I use this switch to control both fan and light on one wire?
No. To control the light and fan separately, they must be wired on independent circuits (two hot wires). If your fan/light unit shares a single wire, you’ll need to rewire or use a compatible control.
Is the switch UL or ETL certified?
Yes. All Akicon electrical switches are UL or ETL listed to meet U.S. and Canadian safety standards.
